again one of my favourite songs in wicked, a strangely empowering at that. i always stand a bit straighter and strut a bit more when i sing it. (and annalene is such an adorable british glinda!)

it is time again for a conscious decision to be made, no matter how gut-churning it is. so once more, with feeling. i forgive i forgive i forgive, and i ask for forgiveness for myself. what matters it if i am played for a fool again and again and again. it is time to grit your teeth and turn the other cheek and refrain from later viciousness and vengeance.
as a gifted little boy once counselled me, “just because one extreme doesn’t work doesn’t mean you have to swing to the other one!” and perhaps it is time to return to the middle-ground. what it was is gone, and it is time to settle for something less. (and perhaps i don’t really want anything more than less.)
avenue q is one of the smartest, strangest, but truest musicals around. there’s little observations about life and love, and college, and the abyss that follows after it that would strike a chord in everyone born in the 1980-1986ish era who grew up on sesame street (and would either have left or be leaving college soon). fine fine line is one of my favourite songs from the show, because it’s so simple and plaintive and true.
There’s a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;
There’s a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know ’til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.
There’s a fine, fine line between love and a waste of time.
There’s a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there’s a fine, fine line between “You’re wonderful” and “Goodbye.”
I guess if someone doesn’t love you back it isn’t such a crime,
But there’s a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.
And I don’t have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don’t think that you even know what you’re looking for.
For my own sanity, I’ve got to close the door
And walk away…
Oh…
There’s a fine, fine line between together and not
And there’s a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you’re still in your prime…
There’s a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.
whoop.
i seriously didn’t realise it had been such a long time O_O christmas break was incredibly packed and soon after christmas i left to go to istanbul and athens (with a short detour to greece). toget a short sparknotes version of everything that’s happened then, check out my project 365 blog. supposed to have started on the 14th of december, i got lazy and decided to start it proper on christmas day instead. (: it’s not complete yet either, cos some photos are still not uploaded yet. but i’ll cover the backlog soon. it’s got up till 9th january though, so the backlog ain’t much.
will post a proper post soonish. but alas, term has started and the vicious neverending cycle of reading begins once more.
